The United States has conducted a new series of significant military strikes targeting various strategic and defense installations across Iran. This marks the sixth consecutive night of operations, which have resulted in at least eight fatalities and several injuries, according to reports from Iranian media. Additionally, five major bridges essential for regional logistics have sustained damage.
In a formal statement released on Thursday, July 16, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the scope of the latest campaign. The strikes were aimed at Iran’s coastal surveillance systems, air defense infrastructure, military supply lines, and maritime capabilities. CENTCOM stated that over 50,000 American military personnel deployed across the Middle East are currently maintaining a state of high readiness.
Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported that the six-night offensive concentrated on cities in the southern and southeastern regions. In the port city of Bandar Abbas, an attack on a residential area claimed one life and left eight others injured. Furthermore, separate strikes near Bandar Khamir in Hormozgan province resulted in seven deaths and nine injuries related to damage inflicted on two bridges.
Regional reports indicate that four explosions occurred off the southern coast of Qeshm Island, while the Tasnim News Agency noted that blasts were also heard in the Sirik area of Hormozgan province. The disruption of the Bandar Abbas-Shiraz bridge has reportedly caused power supply interruptions in the surrounding vicinity. Local outlets also documented three explosions west of Bandar Abbas and two in the southern city of Bushehr.
While the Mehr News Agency suggested that a telecommunications tower in Bandar Abbas may have been a target, there has been no official confirmation regarding this specific claim. Fars News Agency highlighted that the damage to five critical bridges, including the Gariveh and Kahurestan structures, significantly hinders Iran’s military mobility and internal supply chain logistics.
