For example, Indian media claimed that Sheikh Hasina had written an open letter from Delhi blaming the US after losing power. However, this letter has been proven to be fake. Similarly, the news of Dr. Yunus being admitted to the ICU is also false.
In addition, some Indian media outlets are circulating fake videos of communal attacks in different parts of Bangladesh. One video shows Muslims attacking a Hindu temple and vandalizing an idol. However, investigation revealed that it is a video of an idol being immersed in East Burdwan district of India.
The Bangladesh government has called for diplomatic initiatives to counter such rumors. According to analysts, the media and governments of both countries need to play a responsible role in countering rumors.
